A HUNTLY folk singer has been nominated for an award that recognises excellence in traditional music.
Iona Fyfe has been announced as a nominee for ‘Scots Singer of the Year’ at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2023.
Having previously received the award in 2018, she hopes to secure the title once more.
Iona said: “I’m delighted to be nominated for Scots Singer of the Year.
"After a busy year performing in Australia, the USA and Germany, it’s lovely to be recognised in the category.
“Winning the award would be an honour and a real boost. The category is full of musicians I’ve admired for years.
"It’s down to public vote and I’d appreciate all the support I can get!”
The awards are to be held in Dundee’s Caird Hall on December 2 and will be broadcast live on BBC Alba.
Voting opened on November 6 and will close on Sunday, November 19. To vote for Iona, visit scotstradmusicawards.com
