Five people are being sought to represent Huntly within one of Aberdeenshire's most compact community councils.

Community councils aim to further their local areas by campaigning on important local issues, working with and engaging the community and by organising community events.

Nominations for the vacancies should be submitted to the Marr Area Office by this Thursday, May 11.

A ballot will take place on May 25 will take place only if the nominees outnumber the places available.

A poster promoting the event asked: "Want to influence decisions in your area? Want to be involved in the future of your community?

"Then become a community councillor."

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: "The recent pandemic and storms have strengthened the need for local resilience and for people to support one another in their communities.

"Community Councils are an excellent way to become involved."

Nomination forms are available from the Council’s website.
