Margo Stewart, chairperson of Huntly and District Macmillan Cancer Support group, said: "The event was well-attended with walkers, and runners, enjoying the fine weather.

"There was a social gathering, too, where everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and home baking.

"The generous donations will help support the work of Macmillan in north-east Scotland."

Mrs Stewart has been involved with the group since 1996, and has been chairperson for more than two decades.

She added: "The group has been running for 50 years and we have done this walk for about 25 of those.

"Macmillan supports people from diagnosis and their families. Although most cancer journeys are successful nowadays, people and families still need help."

Macmillan ring-fences funding for those in the AB54 postcode area, in case it is ever needed.

The group has around 12 members locally, with more always welcome. Contact can be made with the committee on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HuntlyMacmillanCancerSupport

Next up for the Huntly group is the World's Biggest Coffee Morning event, which takes place on the final Friday in September in Stewart's Hall.
