Sports Kits for All, set up by Gordon Rural Action (GRA) in partnership with Live Life Aberdeenshire and others, has started providing a range of children's sports equipment to anybody who needs it.

The charity, building on the success of the similar Uniform Exchange scheme, is keen for anybody who could benefit to get involved.

A launch event on Saturday, April 29 at the Huntly Nordic Ski Centre showed how much fun could be had by getting involved in physical hobbies, with free family skiing sessions, roller skiing and tubing on offer.

The Huntly Girls football team also had a stall and were inviting new members to join their club.

Donations flew in at the event and the project is already building a healthy library of items for a range of sports which people can request or exchange.

Items can range from football boots to running clothes and everything in between, even including uniforms for activities like gymnastics or karate.

Kayleigh Nicolls, support services coordinator at GRA said: "The Sports Kit for All project means breaking down barriers between people and their ability to take part in physical activity.

"The project also makes a positive environmental impact by reducing waste while making sports more accessible.

"We are also looking for volunteers to help with the project so please get in touch if you would like to join our team.

"We are working closely with local schools and want everyone to know this is available to everyone no matter their circumstances or location.

"We hope to do some more events for the community soon. we have a well-being event with a local nursery planned this month and would like to do more of these with the schools and nurseries in the local area soon."

To request items, fill in the form under the Sports Kit for All tab available here.

Items can be donated at GRA's 55 Gordon Street, Huntly office on weekdays between 10-2, or a collection bin at the Linden Centre, the Meadows Sports Pavilion, Gordon Primary School, The Gordon Schools and the Brander Building.
