NHS Grampian will be relaxing the rules slightly on visiting patients in hospital from tomorrow.

From Wednesday patients in all hospitals in Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen will be able to receive visits from a maximum of two 'named' people at the same time.

On top of that, within the near future the rules are in line to be relaxed even further.

From Wednesday, August 25, the two-person will remain in place, however these can be different visitors on different days.

An NHS Grampian spokesperson said: "If you are a named visitor, please consider taking regular lateral flow device tests.

"If you are feeling at all unwell yourself for any reason avoid hospital visiting.

"You should have a conversation with the senior charge nurse or midwife before visiting to understand what can be accommodated in each clinical area.

"For paediatric and maternity services visiting, please consult directly with the clinical team to understand what level of visiting is possible.

"Where patients have additional needs or are nearing the end of their life, we will seek to accommodate those needs as best we can.

"In the longer term, it is hoped we can return to person-centred visiting, where people are able to visit friends or relatives in hospital at a time that suits them.

"We recognise the importance of receiving visitors to an individual’s recovery."
