A DARTS competition is being staged once again to raise funds for the Turner Memorial Hospital in Keith.

.

The John Anderson Memorial Shield this Saturday was first contested last year in tribute to an avid fan of the sport who passed away in 2018.

The event, which attracted 20 players, raised £400 for the hospital which looked after John so well after his cancer diagnosis.

Organisers are now hoping to do even better this time around.

Allan Buchan is the manager of the Commercial Hotel, the competition's venue.

He said: "John was a stalwart of the darts scene in Keith and played to a high standard throughout Aberdeenshire.

"The event is strongly supported by his father and siblings who provide the trophies and part of the prize fund.

"All entry money and proceeds from raffles on the day will go to the hospital, and support for the event will be greatly appreciated."

John Anderson Memorial Shield is being held at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday.

There's a £5 entry charge with a first prize of £150. Sign-in by noon for a 1pm start.
