Three good causes across the North of Scotland have been shortlisted to receive a share of a £25,000 funding pot, thanks to Scotmid’s Community Connect award scheme. The awards will be announced this October, following a vote by Scotmid Members.

Home-Start Aberdeen supports families on a low income to shop, cook and eat more healthily.

Good nutrition is a key building block in a child’s early development and the charity’s Recipe for Life Project helps parents and carers develop their cooking skills and confidence and gain a better understanding of how to improve their family’s diet.

The project will receive either £15,000 or £5000 from Scotmid.

Eleanor McEwan, Home-Start Aberdeen Chief Executive, said: “With so much uncertainty following the pandemic, we strive to provide much needed support to local families struggling with the cost of living.

"This funding from Scotmid will allow us to purchase garden tools, picnic tables, bee hives, composting bins, children’s climbing walls and other fun tools that bring families together.”

The other good causes shortlisted in the North are Just Bee Productions, based in Dundee, and Culloden Community Garden, based in Inverness.
