His Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines Scotland welcomed back to Meldrum

Meldrum Academy Performing Arts Faculty was delighted to welcome back His Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines Scotland last week.

A total of 42 Royal Marine musicians and 62 musicians (string, brass, wind, percussion and the Pipe Band) from Meldrum were given the opportunity to rehearse and take part in workshops with the band and the Corps of Drums.

In the afternoon the contemporary musicians had a workshop with the Function Band after which they performed a short concert to the S2 cohort.

The evening concert saw the world famous Corps of Drums introduced to the audience.

As principal of Performing Arts Linda Moggach commented: " It was a spectacular sight.

"The programme consisted of music which been rehearsed during the day enabling our musicians to play a medley from Pirates of the Caribbean and Disney as well as music from the Royal Marines too.

"The finale was Highland Cathedral where the Royal Marines were joined with Meldrum Academy Pipe Band.

"The whole day was fantastic and a wonderful opportunity for our musicians to play alongside professionals."
