Shortly after 10am on Sunday, September 11 the cortege of Queen Elizabeth will pass through Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen on its way to Edinburgh.

Leaving Balmoral it is due to pass through Ballater at 10.15am approximately, where a tribute will be held.

The Lord Lieutenants of Aberdeenshire, Kincardineshire, Banffshire, their Deputies and Aberdeenshire Council elected members will gather at the roadside outside Glen Muick Parish Church to pay their respects as the coffin passes.

Several of the group will remain their until the proclamation of the King takes place on the same steps shortly after 12.30pm.

As the cortege passes through Aberdeenshire, along the A93 corridor, there are a number of locations at which the public can watch it pass.

These are in Ballater, Dinnet, Aboyne, Kincardine O’Neil, Banchory and Drumoak

It then passes over the city boundary at a point expected between 11.15am - 11.40am (no-guaranteed time) into Aberdeen where the Lord-Lieutenant will be joined by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Deputy Lieutenants, the Leaders and Chief Executive of Aberdeen City Council, Elected Members and other distinguished guests, as the cortege passes Duthie Park on Great Southern Road.

When it moves back onto the A90 southbound the public are strongly advised not to gather near the carriageway in the interests of their own safety. Some bridges over the A90 will be stewarded but numbers in these locations will be limited for safety.

There will be a range of road closure notices in place and rolling road closures along the A93 from 10am until around 11:30.

The public are strongly advised not to throw flowers, rather leave them at designed tribute locations.

This is to prevent any issues for other road users after the coffin itself passes.

Other roads may be closed at short notice, at the discretion of senior officers within Police Scotland.

Anyone traveling around the A93 or A90 is asked to take note of the above and plan an alternative route accordingly.

To accommodate this significant movement, there will be no Park and Ride or public access of any kind to the Balmoral estate area tomorrow, Sunday, until noon, at which point the Park and Ride will resume until around 6.30pm.

The Queen's state funeral will be held on Monday, September 19 at Westminster Abbey which will be marked as a national Bank Holiday.

In the days before the funeral, King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, will travel to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

On Monday they will visit the Scottish parliament and join a vigil in memory of the monarch.

On Tuesday, they travel by air to Belfast and visit Hillsborough Castle.

They will also attend a service in memory of the Queen and receive a message of condolence led by the speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

After returning to London, where they will witness the arrival of Queen Elizabeth II's coffin, the couple will travel to Wales on Friday.
