THERE was no great distance to travel to come to the rescue when Buckie RNLI lifeboat crew were called into action at the beginning of this week.

Buckie's RNLI lifeboat William Blannin did not have far to go for her latest shout.
Buckie's RNLI lifeboat William Blannin did not have far to go for her latest shout.

Sunday, September 16 saw the boat literally travel across the harbour on its latest mission of mercy, as a spokesman for Buckie RNLI lifeboat station explained.

"Buckie RNLI lifeboat William Blannin was launched at 6.04pm on Sunday, September 16 after reports were received of a fishing boat taking on water in the harbour.

On arriving at the vessel it transpired that a fellow fisherman had started to pump out the water with his own portable pump, which helped keep the vessel stable.

"The lifeboat's salvage pump was transferred and quickly began to pump out the water. Within 15 minutes the boat had stopped listing and the water brought under control.

"The leak was quickly found and isolated, the vessel then being towed to another pier where further checks were carried out."

The lifeboat returned other moorings at 7.35pm.
