"This is likely to bring fairly widely 15-25mm of rainfall, which in itself is unlikely to bring disruption, other than areas of standing water.

"However, there is a small chance of the rain turning heavier leading to areas of 30-50mm and perhaps even 70mm for one or two spots. If this did occur this is more likely to lead to some surface water flooding."

The Met Office said the public should expect:

  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures along with the chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.
  • There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads.
  • There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
