Alex Pirrie has been confirmed in her role as Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership manager for central Aberdeenshire.

Alex was previously employed as a location manager for the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) in central Buchan, which meant she also had responsibility for the provision of healthcare at HMP Peterhead.

Prior to returning to Aberdeenshire, Alex worked as service manager for NHS Grampian’s Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

She said: “I am delighted that the role has been made permanent, having originally taken up the position on an interim basis in January.

“I have really enjoyed being back working in Aberdeenshire, and I am so lucky to have the backing of a fantastic team.

"Our teams on both the health and social care side are absolutely fantastic, and it is a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead them.

“Health and social care services are vital to our communities, be it within very sheltered housing, care homes, day services, community nursing or our community hospitals, so it is wonderful to be given the opportunity to lead our team here in central Aberdeenshire.”

Chief officer of AHSCP Pam Milliken has welcomed the news and believes the role will ensure continuation of leadership.

She said: “Alex has brought enthusiasm, positivity and expertise to the key role of leading the team in central Aberdeenshire since her interim appointment.

“The fact that her role is now a permanent position is excellent news, both for residents of Aberdeenshire and of course for the team.

“Continuation of leadership is hugely beneficial, and our partnership will continue to strive to provide a range of care and support services – led by people like Alex who are truly passionate about the part they play.”

The AHSCP is overseen by the Integration Joint Board (IJB), which consists of members from both NHS Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council along with patient and carers representatives alongside members from the third sector.

Chair of the IJB, Councillor Anne Stirling, is looking forward to working with Alex on a more permanent basis.

She said: "The work of AHSCP is absolutely vital in enabling people to live well, and each partnership manager is responsible for leading our strategy for health and social care services in their area.

“I’ve already had the pleasure of seeing the work which Alex and her team undertake for central Aberdeenshire, so I am delighted that she is now with AHSCP on a permanent basis, and I can speak for the whole IJB when I congratulate Alex on her appointment."
