A very sprightly lady celebrated her 100th birthday in style yesterday.
Jess MacKenzie was joined by family and friends at the Sunninghill Hotel in Elgin.
Born in Newmill on November 9, 1923, Jess attended the local school until the age of 14, after which she left to do office work.
When the Second World War broke out, she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service, which was the women's branch of the British Army.
During the years of conflict Jess was stationed in both Glasgow and Leicester, as well as other postings.
Afterwards she met and married Jim, the son of Linkwood distillery's manager.
Jim, himself, went on to manage Coleburn distillery between Rothes and Elgin.
The couple had a daughter together, Seonaid.
As she was talking yesterday Jess was sat next to Calum, who's married to Seonaid.
When asked what the secret of living to be a hundred might be, she joked: "I really don't know, but I'm certain that having a nice son-in-law must help."
Calum said: "I known Jess for a very long time now. She's just a kind, reliable and very friendly person.
"Happy birthday from all of us."
