The handover of the Fvyie Meldrum Medical Practice has been delayed till June.

The Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group, which had nearly 9000 patients on its books at the time of the announcement in November last year is an independent practice owned and operated by a partnership of GPs.

Like many in the north-east, circumstances meant that they elected to end their contract with NHS Grampian. leaving the running in the hand of Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership along with the Practice till a resolution could be found.

In a statement posted at the practice, an update said: “We just wanted to get in touch to let you know there has been some slippage in the timeframe for Newburn Medical taking over the operation of Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group. Initially we gave you an indicative date of 1st May for the handover of the contract. However, we are now working to a date of 1st June. As you will no doubt be aware handing over a contract and all the ancillary elements (IT, Utility Bills, Payroll – the list goes on) can take time to get right and we really want to make sure we get this right.”
