The dry messy play will let kids go wild with fun objects, at Huntly's OAP hall.

This year's festival will see two parties thrown by Abi-Lou Messy Play at the OAP Hall, on Hairst day (Saturday, September 2).

Two free "dry messy play" sessions will run between 10am and 11am and from 12pm to 2pm.

Up to 50 children can attend each farm-themed session, but Hairst organiser Kay Thomson said places are "going fast".

"It is dry messy play, so kids aren't coming home covered in shaving cream," she said.

"Places are going fast.

"If people don't want to miss out, please email us at: huntlyhairst@outlook.com to book a spot."

She added that support from Asda Huntly was essential to putting the event on and means every child can enjoy a free-of-charge buffet.

"We have some funding from Asda Huntly, which was so kind of them," she said.

"And this is the first time we have had Abi-Lou join us.

"She comes with a bit of a following anyway.

"It is good too, because she normally works out of Aberchirder.

"It is a great thing for us to have, but I am really pleased in the support from Asda as well."

The parties, open to kids up to seven years-old, will allow parents to let their wee ones safely wreak havoc with mess-free items including dyed pasta and rice.

Children, who must be accompanied by an adult, will also get the chance to have fun making animal shapes, and other activities.

Hairst chairperson Pat Scott said: "It is really important to us, making sure there are events there that are free or are very affordable.

"So that people can come have a good time and it doesn't need to cost them anything, really."
