Grampian Opportunities Green Cafe presented a stimulating afternoon in Inverurie on Monday with participants offering various ways of recycling, re-use-ing and repairing in their own homes.

Headed by Grampian Opportunities volunteer Tracy Harrison the group were encouraged to do a bit of brainstorming on how to 'go greener.'

One person confessed she was still trying to get out of the habit of overfilling her kettle and swore by the efficiency of low energy light bulbs which she now has all over her house.

Said Tracy: "A lot of people think the little they do won't count - but the message is Do a little, change a lot."

Another, ceramacist Natalie Naylor said she has become more conscious of recycling since she moved to the country.

She said: "I have got out of the habit of just throwing away if something can have a new and useful life."

One of the aims of the Green Cafe is to apply to the Transition Participatory Budget fund .

Said Tracy: "We are hoping to get a grant to make the GO building more eco-friendly."
