Garioch’s McDougall brothers have won the Thursday Evening Open Triples bowls title writes Mike Barron.

It was an evening double as James has already won the Tuesday evening pairs. McDougall was able to call on brother Ronnie, Alan Rough, Lee Collins and Ash Canale for his trio.

James McDougall’s last match was against Jason Banks. Only a massacre by Jason’s trio would have stopped McDougall taking the title and it was not to be. McDougall won by one shot. McDougall had played 27, won 24, lost 3 with 48 points and +161 shots. Fergus Muat ha played 27, won 23, lost 4 with 46 points and + 126.

The season saw some close wins by McDougall. Amongst his wins are Fergus Muat 10-9, Carla Banks 9-8, Ian Ingram 21-20 and Norman Hepburn 10-9. All by 1 shot! His losses were 8-11 from Steve Buchanan, 4-12 from Jason Banks and 12-16 from Fergus Muat.
