SNAP-SHOTS and stories featured vividly in talks given by Garioch Heritage Society guests Joan Bruce, Carol Robertson and Griselda McGregor at the Tuesday centre meeting in Kemnay village hall.
Joan described her involvement with the rescue and restoration of a canal boat which had languished long in mud at Port Elphinstone.
She told of its remarkable journey from the mud through restoration and preservation to its new home in Garioch Heritage centre with the help of trucks, cranes and man power borrowed from the rugby team.
The other project of which she is justifiably proud was last summer's Fashion through the ages exhibition with a grand finale of a fashion show
The society has aquired through donation a wonderful collection of clothing dating from the Victorian and Edwardian eras up to the Millennium.
She said:" Many of the really old gowns were incredibly fragile - and had such tiny measurements
"We had to get very slim young girls as models.
For the exhibition she and Carol worked hard creating tableaux such as a war-time wedding. the Suffragette movement and glittering balls.
Vote of thanks was given by Dorothy Wink.
Tuesday centre's next meeting is on March 12 and will be a Bring and Buy.
