Garioch Community Kitchen promotes and raises awareness of healthy eating messages through practical offers hands-on cookery sessions.

It also offers Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS ) accredited cooking skills courses and food hygiene courses, amongst other courses.

Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:“This was a fascinating visit to learn more about Garioch Community Kitchen and to highlight the good work they have been doing.

“The aim to help the local community itself to fight poverty by sharing skills and giving confidence to people to cook nutritious and affordable meals from scratch, is just one of the great pieces of work which Garioch Community Kitchen does.

“This also helps combat isolation, as people come into the kitchen to get some food and cooking support and skills, but they come away with a feeling of community to the extent that many users become volunteers too.

"The promotion of a healthy lifestyle also means people are more active and are given the tools and knowledge to make healthy choices for themselves.

“My thanks go to Sarah Bell and Nom Wright who provided me with so much information on my visit and I congratulate the whole team at Garioch Community Kitchen on their life-changing work they do.”
