Funding allocated to Banff and Buchan community groups

Six local groups across Banff and Buchan are to benefit from a share of council funding following approval by councillors.

They applied to the Banff and Buchan Area Initiatives Fund seeking support for various projects taking place across the ward.

The applications were considered and unanimously approved by the Banff and Buchan area committee on Tuesday.

Alvah and Forglen Arts Group will get £975 to buy display boards for its annual art exhibition and fundraising event.

Fraserburgh Community Council will receive £230 to put towards its Young Hero event.

£580 will be awarded to Fraserburgh South Park School to buy a litter picking pack to help the youngsters with their Eco Schools work.

The King Edward Community Hall will get £3360 to buy two RexNordic diesel heaters to pre-heat the hall.

Meanwhile Portsoy Community Council made two applications to the fund.

The first asked for £149 to buy a notice board and the second for £122 to get a mobile clothes rail for the local theatre group’s costume storage.

Two applications were also made by Rathen, Memsie and Cortes Community Council.

They will receive £208 to buy replacement pads for the community defibrillators and a further £1790 to purchase and install new outdoor play equipment at Rathen Hall.
