FRIENDS of Jubilee Hospital has found its youngest supporter.

Mollie Grant (7) has been making and selling lavender bags to raise money for the group.

After receiving a junior sewing machine, Mollie decided to make the bags and hand them over to Orb Bookshop, where her gran Lynn Grant volunteers, to sell them.

The bags are priced at £1 each and, as Mollie wished, all money raised from sales will go towards Friends of Jubilee Hospital.

Flora Macdonald, who volunteers at Orbs, said: "The lavender bags have been selling very well. Well done to Mollie! She's a wee star."

Fiona Murray, from Friends of Jubilee Hospital, said: "This was entirely Mollie's idea – there was no prompting from us so it was a nice surprise.

"I just thought that it was so lovely. We let everyone know at our most recent meeting and we are all touched – it's just fantastic.

"All the money is coming to us. It's fair to say that Mollie is our youngest supporter."

Fiona said that other youngsters have been supporting the charity – with North-East Tractor Pullers Club donating £500 to the Friends recently.

She added: "It's so lovely that youngsters are donating to us. These are not people that are necessarily using the hospital but they understand its importance."

Friends of Jubilee continue to build up to their grand raffle, which will take place in March 2024. More than 60 businesses in and around Huntly have already donated prizes.

"Business is difficult just now and the support we have had wonderful, generous support from Huntly businesses," Fiona added.

Tickets for the raffle are available to buy in a number of businesses locally.
