Mr Casely showed photos of all the places he visited and even got the audience singing when showing photos of Fingals Cave, Iona with its lovely Abbey and Nunnery and Mull with its different coloured post boxes.

Staffa is uninhabited, except for a ruined shelter, which is in place in case anybody gets stranded there.

Gordon has cycled since the the age of five and has made tracks in every continent except Antarctica, covering more than 185,000 miles.

His best experiences, he said, were crossing the Arctic Circle, seeing Mount Everest, reaching the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea – and cycling round Red Square in Moscow. His worst was cycling down Duke Street in Huntly.

The next Probus Meeting is on Thursday, April 13, in the Huntly Golf Club at 10am. There will be a talk from the Huntly Pipe Band about everything they do and where all they have played.
