Graham Cooper will be at a free Orb's Bookshop event next weekend.

Taking place at Orb's Bookshop on Saturday, November 4 between 10.30am and Noon, the Meet the Author event will allow attendees to pick the brains of Graham Cooper.

Alford author Mr Cooper, visiting Huntly to promote latest book Tullynessle – a short history, will share some key insights on writing and the region's history.

His new fourth book, the new work focusses on the historic parish of Tullynessle north of Alford.

Having trawled through previous writings on the area and archive material, Mr Cooper could be the perfect person to answer any burning questions about Aberdeenshire's history.

Despite not being a native speaker, two of the author's books have been written in Gaelic.

Mr Cooper wrote his Gaelic works after learning the language by way of night classes and courses at the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig college in Skye.

A spokesperson for Orb's Bookshop said: "This fascinating and accessible work of local history opens in the Late Stone Age and moves forwards through the centuries.

"The author has drawn on both written records and material from the archives and the book is carefully referenced.

"Come and meet Graham at the bookshop and enjoy a chat about local history."
