CLAN has had to postpone and cancel their major fundraising events this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak and is facing a significant drop in their income.

Despite this, the charity has continued to be a lifeline for many people facing a cancer diagnosis by launching a telephone support service, telephone counselling sessions, offering new online services and continuing to support their younger clients and families.

The CLAN Here for You Appeal was launched in May to raise vital funds and has already received the backing of singing sensation Emeli Sande, independent upstream oil and gas company, Serica Energy and over 250 individual donors from around the north-east.

Dave Cormack said: "We had the pleasure of visiting CLAN's Aberdeen centre last year and got to see first-hand the vast range of practical and emotional support that they provide to cancer patients and those close to them.

“It has been an incredibly challenging time for businesses and charities across the city, and we are delighted to be able to continue our support of CLAN with this donation.

“Sadly, cancer has a devastating impact on so many families across the north-east.

“Fiona and I are encouraged to hear how CLAN have supported clients throughout the outbreak."

CLAN's Head of Income Generation and Business Development, Fiona Fernie, said: "CLAN has been supporting the communities of the north-east and Northern Isles for 37 years, helping people and their loved ones coping with a cancer diagnosis.

"We launched the Here for You Appeal to allow CLAN to continue to be here for them now and in the future."

"We are so appreciative of the support from Fiona and Dave Cormack, especially during this time.

"The foundation has already made a significant impact on CLAN's services, and we are delighted to have their continued support.

"Cancer hasn't stopped during the pandemic, and since the outbreak, we have taken over 1000 support calls, delivered over 350 counselling sessions and provided 468 support sessions to our children and families clients.

"And last week, after a short closure to enhance safety measures, we reopened our CLAN Haven service which acts as a bed and breakfast facility for cancer patients and their family undergoing treatment who live out with Aberdeen.

"We cannot offer these services without the generous support of people like Dave and Fiona.

"We are incredibly humbled and grateful for all the support we have received.

"The Here for You Appeal asks everyone to give £10 or whatever they can to CLAN to help us make sure we can continue to offer our life-changing services, not just now but into the future out with Aberdeen."
