A football game in Banff on Saturday will be in memory of five men who took their own lives and aims to raise money for a mental health charity.

A match has been organised between Auld Banff Rovers and Macduff United to remember Euan Christie, Roy Johnston, Gary Hendry, Zander MacKintosh and Declan Ewen, who all played for Rovers.

The game takes place at Canal Park with a 2pm kick-off and all proceeds will go to the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

The match organisers said: "We are fund raising for SAMH in memory of these five lads whose lives all sadly ended far too soon, due to poor mental health and them feeling they could not go on.

"Euan Christie, Roy Johnston, Gary Hendry, Zander MacKintosh and Declan Ewen.

"These were five much loved lads and are sorely missed by friends and family.

"All these lads at one time played football for the local Banff Rovers football team.

"We are putting on a charity football match in their memory and are grateful for any donations received.

"The SAMH have many wonderful services within Aberdeenshire and Scotland and if the money we make can help just one person be able to ask for help it’s worth it all."

Following the game a raffle and post match drinks will be held in The Railway Inn.

People can visit the match's JustGiving page to donate online.
