Fly-tipping: mounds of waste dumped at two Moray locations

TWO "despicable" examples of illegal fly-tipping have been discovered by a member of the Moray public.

In one instance, piles of debris were found dumped beside a passing place off a single-track road near Fogwatt.

The second find was made way off the beaten track, miles from a public route on the Mannoch Road near Rothes Wind Farm, which the same man came across while out cycling.

Both incidents were discovered early this week and involved large quantities of waste.

The rubbish dumped near Fogwatt included mattresses and mangled metal.

At Fogwatt the dumped waste included mattresses, carpet, underlay, garden furniture parts, metalwork and bags of other rubbish.

The rubbish at the Rothes site consisted of mainly garden waste – "practically a whole hedgerow" – and other rubbish strewn around. The finder said someone had gone well out of their way to dump the load in the remote spot.

The locations have been reported via the Zero Waste Scotland portal.
