The contest, for children under 12, was run over two weeks during the Easter holidays and won by Emma Grant.

Helped by older sister Molly, she sought out rabbits planted in the windows of 10 business across Huntly.

Each window number corresponded with a question on Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and Friends which Emma, along with other local children, answered correctly.

In the end, the Friends picked Emma's name at random from the list of correct entries.

For her efforts, she won a set of Peter Rabbit books and a £20 book token for Orbs Bookshop.

Every child who entered was given a chocolate Easter egg, given generously by ASDA, upon handing in their entry.

Fiona Murray, the chairwoman of Friends of Jubilee Hospital, said: "It was a lovely, lovely event for under-12s in Huntly.

"They had a wonderful time going around all the businesses with their mums, dads, grannies and grandfathers and peering in the windows.

"I am sure it gave some of the business owners some entertainment too."

Mrs Murray was also keen to recognise the contribution of local businesses and residents who supported the contest.

"The Friends would like to thank Rizzas and Orb Bookshop for their support and special mention must be given to Mrs Sandra Shand who kindly donated a number of gorgeous knitted rabbits for the window displays," she said.

"And also to Jenny Smith for her hand painted rabbits on beach pebbles, as well as Anne Gray's zany artwork.

"Thanks to all the children and their adult minders for taking part and thanks to all the businesses which lent support."
