They crew gave £500 to the baby bank at Gordon Rural Action and £500 to Huntly Foodbank Centre from their fundraising efforts throughout the year.

A spokesperson for the team said: "It was fantastic being able to help local charities all thanks to the generosity of the public at our events."

And the donations will be put to great use in the community as the cost-of-living crisis takes hold.

Emma Selway-Grant, chief officer of Gordon Rural Action, was delighted to accept the donation.

She told the Huntly Express: "We are incredibly grateful to Huntly Community Fire Station for supporting the baby bank. The funds will help us with restocking nappies and other essentials."

A spokesperson for Huntly Foodbank Centre said: "We are so grateful for the generous donation from the Huntly Community Fire Station and their ongoing support. Not only did they raise these funds, they supported our Christmas food collection at the weekend.

"As we head deeper in to winter the cost-of-living crisis has become a cost-of-living emergency. We want to end hunger in Aberdeenshire, by meeting that emergency need today, and addressing the long term drivers of poverty."
