King Edward Parish Church has held its final service before it is permanently closed.

More than 100 members of both King Edward and partner church Banff Parish gathered on Sunday.

The service was conducted by Reverend Mel Griffiths.

Following the service the congregation gathered in the community hall for refreshments during which presentations were made to individuals who had given their time and talents over a number of years.

Eric Wilson, watched by some of the congregation, locked the church door for the last time.

The original church was founded in 1124 on a site overlooking the Burn of King Edward, a mile to the west of the present church. The last service was held there in 1848, though the kirkyard continued to be used until 1872. The old kirk is now roofless.

The present church was built to designs of A & W Reid of Elgin and opened in 1848. It was built along what is now the main A947 road.
