In June the Methlick Community Council announced that the build of a Multi-Use Games Area for the Methlick Community was set to commence.

Now local supporters of the project are being asked to help with one final push to fund £5000 towards the installation of floodlights and a secure online entry system.

The project is the third phase of a long-term community vision to support a more physically active community with purposeful facilities.

The strategy also wishes to boost the sporting facilities within the Methlick schooling infrastructure.

Regular consultation with the Methlick school, residents, cricket club, football clubs, Scouts, Beavers and Guides gave a direct request to provide more modern, purposeful, and innovative facilities which meet the demands of tomorrow’s children, families, and residence according to Aberdeenshire Council strategies.

The MUGA will also help people to participate in sport and other activities without having to travel to other locations.

A spokesperson for the community council said: "We hope the MUGA will encourage people to undertake more exercise or even just meet up more with this being a focal point alongside the play park and football pitches.

"This all helps with each of our mental health and battles loneliness.

"Support to fund the installation of floodlights and a secure online entry system will help to make this MUGA perfect for all weather and all year-round use."
