On December 10, 16 and 17 police officers will be deployed to Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Inverurie to work alongside partners from Aberdeenshire Local Authority.

Police Officers, Criminal Justice Social Workers and Community Substance Misuse workers will carry out joint visits to individuals who are vulnerable as a result of substance misuse, domestic violence or cuckooing to becoming victims of violence.

Focus will also be given to licensed premises and the wider night time economy through licensed premises visits, community engagement and supporting those vulnerable through increased levels of intoxication.

Sgt Wayne Bedford from the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit (DAVRU) said “Experience tells us that as the festive season approaches we will see a significant increase in night time economies and alcohol use resulting in individuals becoming vulnerable through intoxication and associated violence.

"The vast majority of people visiting licensed premises in the lead up to Christmas are law abiding and are there to enjoy a good night out.

"This initiative, encompassing partnership working will see us work together to ensure that people have a safe and enjoyable time within our towns and villages”.
