STRATHISLA Distillery is hosting an open day next week to encourage local people to consider a career in the whisky industry.

The event will showcase the wide variety of career opportunities available at Chivas Brothers.

These span production, engineering, warehousing and hospitality-based roles in the company's visitor centres.

Folk will have the chance to speak to staff members about their roles.

Strathisla is the oldest continually working distillery in the north of Scotland.

Ruth Simmers, business development liaison, says: "This event is a unique chance for people to learn about our company, the diverse roles we offer and how they can become a part of our dynamic team.

"You're a part of a united, inclusive community, rooted in Scotland and around the globe."

The event has been organised in conjunction with Moray's Developing the Young Workforce organisation.

Brian MacAulay, malt distilling and operations director, said: "There isn’t one ‘type’ of person who fits in here. We openly welcome and unite people and we’re the richer for it."

The open day is taking place this Thursday from 3pm-7.30pm.

Kelsey Bruce started as a seasonal guide at Strathisla over a decade ago.

Since then, she’s worked as a distillery operations technician and a team leader at Dalmunach and Scapa.

Last year she was promoted to her current role as distillery operations manager based at Strathisla, Glen Keith and Glentauchers.

She said: "Chivas Brothers has invested in me and my development from the start, giving me valuable insights and knowledge into the industry.

"I love that I get to work with an incredible team every day, in an exciting industry, and that I’m encouraged to be bold and innovative to help shape the future of whisky."

The open day is taking place at the venue in Keith on Thursday, September 28, from 3pm-7.30pm.
