Two new businesses which have opened in Ellon this month have been well received by the local community.

On Station Road, Mitchell's House Of Mayhem soft play area has been a hit with youngsters.

As well as soft play the venue, situated in the former computing shop, has a cafe and also offers takeaway.

There is even a party room which can be booked for special occasions.

Owner Vicky Mitchell said: "It has been an amazing and stressful journey with so much help from friends and family - without my husband Danny, my parents and siblings we would not have gotten the doors open.

"We are grateful to the Ellon councillors for giving us the opportunity to open in the location we are.

"There's also a special mention to Alan Black and Andy Bruce for putting in all the hours over and beyond to get us where we are today.

"Everyday has been busy and learning new things to make it better for the public.

"We are closed on Wednesdays but are offering schools, nurseries and other groups hire of the Cafe and Play either for as and when needed or a regular slot.

"We have a takeaway hatch and it has been busier each day.

"We are very happy to have been able to open the soft play and cafe in Ellon and look forward to welcoming many children and adults though the doors each day.

"I love the sound of happy children playing together and telling us how much fun they have had at Mitchells House Of Mayhem.

"We know we will never please everyone but we will do our very best to try."

Mitchell's House Of Mayhem is open from 9.30-5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9.30am-6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 10am-4pm on Sundays.

Also opened recently in Ellon is pet supplies business The Pet Stop (Grampian), which is situated on Market Street.

With animal care to the fore, environmental considerations have even been taken when kitting out the inside of the shop with much of the fittings featuring pallets and upcycled furniture.

The environment has also been heavily considered when it comes to stock.

The Pet Stop's Shona Dempster said: "It's been two weeks since opening and I still finding the response from customers to be really positive, with many people pleased to have a pet supplies shop in the town.

"It's early days but am really glad I took the plunge and hoping to be able to tailor the shop to the local requirements.

"People have been great letting me know what they'd like from their local shop and many people saying they prefer to shop local rather than travel to Pets at Home or similar."

The Pet Stop (Grampian) is open from 10am-5.30pm Tuesday-Saturday, with late shopping until 7pm on Thursdays, as well as 10am-4pm on Sundays.
