Ellon Day Opportunities group get active during fitness walk

Ellon Day Opportunities organised a fitness walk for the people that use its services.

It was a chance for them to get active and they could take on either a 1k or 3k walk.

They went along the old railway line and finished at Ellon Bowling Club.

Well-earned refreshments were served at the venue which the participants enjoyed.

Ellon Day Opportunities provides a range of activities to adults with learning disabilities living in the area.

Individual needs are met through programmed activities and work experience in the local community.

It helps people develop and work towards their personal goals in social, physical and mental wellbeing.

The service runs from various locations in the town, including Ellon Resource Centre, Benchmark woodwork project and Ellon Can-Do Community Recycling. It also uses community facilities and resources.

It holds a conversation café in the bowling club every fortnight.

The building based service is for adults with profound and multiple disabilities, as well as complex social needs. It is run from Ellon Resource Centre, which is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.

These services are supported by a team of experienced staff who have a wide range of skills and knowledge.

It offers work experience; training opportunities; leisure, social, educational and therapeutic activities; and life skills.
