Over the summer months Cadets from 1990 (Ellon) Air Cadets have taken part in many activities which are available to them through their membership of the RAF Air Cadets.

Many of these activities have led to Cadets being awarded qualifications and awards - eight received their Heartstart Award for completing basic first aid training, 18 Cadets received Leadership Awards, six were presented with Cyber Security Awards and a further six Cadets received rado qualifications.

In addition to these, the squadron presented 16 Cadets with their Pre-Duke Of Edinburgh Award - an award unique to the Air Cadets which acts as a pre-cursor for any Cadets who are not yet old enough to embark on their Bronze Duke Of Edinburgh.

After completing their basic glider training at RAF Kirknewton three cadets - Amy, Zoe and Ashleigh - were very excited to be presented with their Blue Gliding Wings.

Proudly receiving their Blue Gliding Wings were Amy Craigmile, Zoe Joss and Ashleigh Mowatt.

Ellon Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flying Officer Martin Lee said: “I am so proud of the commitment the cadets have made over the summer.

"It has paid off, and they are now showcasing their new badges on the uniform.

"Without realising it, they are working towards nationally recognised qualifications in aviation studies.

"It is very pleasing to be able to hand out these awards to cadets who are completing our training syllabus.”

If you're a fan of aviation, action and adventure, you love sports and you enjoy getting to know people then 1990 (Ellon) Air Cadets are inviting you to join their squadron.

Every year nearly 56,000 air cadets and volunteer staff take part in exciting events all over the country.

Anybody who is interested in finding out more about Ellon Air Cadets - either in joining as a Cadet or as an adult volunteer - is invited to attend an open evening on Monday, October 7, to see what the group has to offer.
