The fundraiser sees a small charge made for each card and was held in conjunction with a coffee morning at the town centre venue.

A spokesperson for the group said: ""1st Ellon Boys Brigade would like to thank all parents, friends, young people and family members who gave up their time this weekend to support our annual Christmas card collection and delivery service and coffee morning.

"Much work goes on behind the scenes to make sure that the weekend is entertaining and enjoyable for all who visit. "We are extremely grateful to those who spend their weekend providing an excellent service to the community with their knowledge of the local area.

"Thousands and thousands of cards pass through the doors at the Kirk Centre and our volunteers try their best to find the right home for them."

They continued: "The service wouldn’t exist without the kind donations of the wider community.

"These donations allow us to maintain and repair our minibus and subsidise a lot of the activities we do in the BB within the local community.

"We also express our warmest thanks to Ellon Parish Church for generously hosting the coffee morning and granting us the use of the Kirk Centre all weekend."
