The driver was arrested and charged for being eight times the legal alcohol limit while driving between Moray Coast villages.

The 44-year-old, who was arrested after failing the roadside breath test, had been driving a Dacia Sandero which had come to rest on a verge.

She subsequently blew 180ug of alcohol in 100ml of breath on a roadside test – more than eight times over the legal limit of 22/100.

Officers received reports of a suspected drunk driver on the B9015 between Mosstodloch and Garmouth at around 6.10pm last night.

She was charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today (Friday, 22 September, 2023).

Inspector Scott Deans said: “It is disappointing that people still consume alcohol and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

"This driver has allegedly been eight times over the limit which will have significantly impaired her ability to control the vehicle.

“Drivers put themselves, any passengers, and other road users at risk when they drive under the influence of alcohol.

"This behaviour won’t be tolerated on our roads and anyone with concerns or suspects someone to be drink driving should report this to us via 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
