The team at the new business support service in Huntly has been overwhelmed by the interest and enthusiasm shown by locals so far.

The Huntly E3 hub opened its doors at the Business Centre on Gordon Street just a few weeks ago, but already staff are busy booking appointments, helping people to start businesses and aiding existing firms in the area.

Open all week for both in-person and online appointments, the E3 hub has staff dedicated to deliver free support, training and guidance, whether someone is looking to make money from their hobby or needs help to grow their existing business.

There has also been strong interest in using the facilities in the hub where there is free Wi-Fi, desk and meeting spaces available.

The E3 project (Elevator Entrepreneurial Ecosystem) has been created as a result of the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund (CRF) which is aimed at supporting people and places across the country.

Delivered by Elevator and supported by Aberdeenshire Council, E3 is free to use for existing local firms as well as anyone setting up a business, and encourages people into employment and self-employment.

Aberdeenshire E3 Project Manager, Hollie Kelly said: “We have been thrilled by the warm welcome we have had in Huntly, and I am delighted to see so many local people signing up. There is clearly a huge appetite for high quality local business support and as the E3 programme is free to use, I am sure we will be working with many people in the months ahead.”

Cara Duncan, Hub Manager added: "We are delighted to have opened in the town and we are keen to make support as accessible as possible to local people. As well as developing new initiatives we are also keen to support the good work that is already underway locally through organisations like the Huntly Business Association.”

The E3 model has been successfully piloted further north in Fraserburgh with more than 230 people engaging with the programme, 50 businesses launched, and 60 new jobs created in two years. The Aberdeenshire team have also opened a new hub in Aboyne.
