TWO Buckie youngsters were given the birthday present of a lifetime by Irish girl band B*Witched at Elgin's MacMoray Festival.

To celebrate the release of their new song 'Birthday', the fourpiece decided to invite youngsters celebrating their special day at MacMoray to come on stage.

The band put a post on social media before the weekend inviting folk onto the main stage.

That was spotted by auntie Kim Mcdonald, who managed to get Emmy Grant (13) and Rose Morrison (12) on stage right before B*Witched played their new single.

She added: "Their birthdays were earlier in the month and their presents were tickets to the festival.

"Then I saw the post on Instagram and messaged the group. I wasn't sure if they'd get on stage but they are so happy they did."

Both girls said they enjoyed their minute on stage, where they addressed the crowd, although Rose admitted she did have to overcome a slight fear to get on the stage.

B*Witched Sinéad O'Carroll said: "I asked her after how it felt standing up on stage and she said 'it was a bit scary'. I was like 'I know, I know'!

Edele Lynch added: "Because the song is 'Birthday' it was nice to have somebody who was celebrating on stage.

"I text her mum to make sure she would be OK doing that but she was grand. I love it when we get the opportunity to connect with the crowd like that.

"It was a nice moment for us."
