Over 200 of Scotland’s elite café professionals gathered at the Marriott Hotel Glasgow on Monday for a memorable night, put on to recognise and reward the best in the coffee industry.

The awards celebrated the breadth of talent and entrepreneurial spirit that exist in Scotland as well as the efforts and dedication of the specialists who invest in ensuring their customers always receive high-quality of beverages, food and snacks.

Located just outside Turriff, Delgatie Castle Tearoom was shortlisted for two awards - Best Cafe Team and Best Visitors' Cafe - and took both of them home on the night.

Commenting upon their return to the north-east, Delgatie Castle's Joan Johnson said: "The first award is for the girls - I really couldn't do it without them.

"They've excelled themselves while I have been away, I'm so lucky to have them working here.

"It took me a minute to collect the second award, I think I was in shock.

"We have been doing the same thing for 28 years, we've never changed.

"I see all these new businesses trying fancy things, and I wonder what we could do to be more exciting but we always just end up sticking to the same old things - but people are still visiting so we must be doing something right!

She continued: "It has been very busy this week since we found out we had won, and we have had so many nice comments from people it's all quite overwhelming.

"We're incredibly proud to have won these awards and to be able to put Delgatie Castle out there."

Also collecting an award was The Chocolate Bar in Ellon, who won Cafe Of The Year for the north region, and whose spokesperson said: "A massive well done to The Team, they really deserve this for all their hard work and dedication.

"Thank you to all our customers, for all your support throughout the years, we couldn't do it with you!

We really do appreciate it; we love you."
