HUNTLY's charity Gordon Rural Action is asking locals to consider donating money instead of sending Christmas cards this year.

Many people are choosing to donate to charity instead of buying and sending Christmas cards.
Many people are choosing to donate to charity instead of buying and sending Christmas cards.

GRA's chief officer Emma Selway-Grant says the donations can really go a long way to help them deliver services to those in need in the town.

She said: "At this time of year everybody is feeling the pinch trying to pay for Christmas. This may seem even more of a challenge because of the cost-of-living crisis we are all currently facing.

"Over the few years many people have started donating money to charity instead of donating Christmas cards. We are hoping, if people feel able, they would consider donating locally to Gordon Rural Action.

"Our Advice and Support Hub helps people in and around the Huntly area providing advice on issues including heating bills, benefit entitlement and housing and also practical support with free clothing, baby items, school uniform and sports kit.

"Since April 1, 2022, our Baby Bank has given out 87 packs of nappies and 62 packs of wipes and has provided food to 45 children under the age of five. In total so far 2043 items have been given out to 292 Children in the local area.

"Our Advice and Support Hub has supported 576 local people deal with 1509 issues, many of which are linked directly to the cost of living crisis.

"Your donation will stay in the local community and will help us continue to do this vital work."

Ways your money could help include: £2.50 would provide a baby bath and baby wash; £5 would supply a large pack of nappies; £7.50 would buy 12 packs of baby wipes; £10 could provide school trousers and polo shirts for one child; £25 would fund a half-hour appointment with a trained Hub Advisor and £50 would cover an hour appointment.
