HUNTLY was well and truly flooded at the weekend with roads closed, including the Gullet under the railway bridge and residents worrying about the rising Deveron causing walkways to disappear under water.
On Friday, SEPA escalated their flood warning for Aberdeenshire to severe, while Huntly residents shared photos online of soggy pitches and roads that looked more like lochs.
The Gartly road – the A97 – was described by one resident at the weekend as "barely passable and filling up fast", warning others to be careful.
The A96 between Huntly and Inverurie was also reported as closed during the downpour.
Some Highland League matches were called off due to the severe rain including Turriff United's match against Brora Rangers, Rothes' match at home to Nairn County, and Keith's game against Wick at Kynoch Park.
The children's playpark next to the Huntly Nordic Centre was seen flooded by around 1m of water. The centre itself closed to the public for a day for safety reasons.
Local resident Corey Combes snapped pictures of the bottom field at the school submerged in water on Friday, with the river being reported to be at a height of 3.37m at the time.
One resident posted online: "I've never seen it this bad," while others were showing concern for the area around the school becoming more at risk since the flood defence scheme began protecting other areas such as around Dufftown Road.
The worst was over by Monday, but fears remain for future wet weather.
