A thriving book group meeting held monthly in Kemnay library enjoys stimulating discussions and good company.

The group meets on the fourth Monday of the month except in December.

Member Karen Simpson said: "Sometimes the book suggested for reading for the next session has made me a bit apprehensive if I don't know the author.

"So it's a challenge but I'll persevere."

Reading material for Monday, January 23 is Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet and The Railway Man by Eric Lomax based on his experience as a prisoner working on the notorious Burma railway.

They have already "digested" Michelle Obama's autobiography, provoking very differing opinions.

Member Margaret Basley said: "I enjoy being pointed in the direction of new authors rather than just sticking to my own old favourites."

Senior library administrator Michelle Meyer is delighted with the success of the group which was founded seven years ago by like-minded book people.
