Aberdeen Performing Arts director of programming and creative projects Ben Torrie said: “We are delighted to be announcing these new shows, which all bring something different and exciting to our programme.

Dolly Parton continues to inspire legions of fans around the world and this new musical will be the warm, uplifting, fun night out we have all come to expect from anything Dolly related.

"This is an amazing opportunity to see Here You Come Again before it hits the West End – see it first in Aberdeen.

“The History Boys is a must-see drama which is as funny as it is thought-provoking, while Chicago never fails to wow audiences.

“We’re thrilled to have the superb An Inspector Calls coming to Aberdeen. It is a gritty drama exploring themes that really are even more relevant now than ever.”

For the first time ever, all of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits can be experienced together in rollicking and joyous new musical comedy, Here You Come Again.

Packed with the iconic songs Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again and more, this lively and touching new musical tells the story of a die-hard fan whose fantasy version of international icon Dolly Parton gets him through trying times.

With her wit, humour and charm, Dolly teaches him a whole lot about life, love and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps…even if your bootstraps don’t have rhinestones. This is one musical that is sure to make you smile.

The 20th anniversary production of Alan Bennett’s brilliant modern classic, The History Boys comes to His Majesty’s from October 22-26.

A-Level results day. Cutler’s Grammar School, 1980s Sheffield. Eight unruly teenagers burst into adulthood with the best grades their school has ever seen, but their sights are set on something higher: to study at the most famous academic institutions in the world-Oxford and Cambridge. But their teachers can’t agree how best to tutor them.

There’s Hector, the maverick English teacher who believes in culture for its own sake; Irwin - the shrewd supply teacher full of soundbites; Felix - the headmaster obsessed with league tables and Mrs Lintott - the history teacher who thinks her colleagues are all fools.

The History Boys follows this bright bunch of boys in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university, lifting the lid on staffroom rivalries and the anarchy of adolescence. This timely revival, directed by Seán Linnen, asks what is the purpose of education? And who is it for?

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cell mate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.

Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago's sexy, sassy score with one show-stopping song after another includes “Razzle Dazzle”, “Cell Block Tango”, and “All That Jazz”.

Stephen Daldry’s multi award-winning National Theatre production of JB Priestley’s classic thriller An Inspector Calls returns after a record-breaking, sell-out tour in 2022.

Winner of 19 major awards and hailed as the theatrical event of its generation, An Inspector Calls has thrilled more than five million theatregoers worldwide.

When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman.

His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.

Tickets go on sale to Friends of Aberdeen Performing Arts on Thursday, February 29, and on general sale on Friday, March 1, available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, call 01224 641122 or visit the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre or the Music Hall.
