Over 200 dancers from all over Scotland travelled to Turriff recently to compete in a festive highland dancing competition.

The Christmas Cracker, organised by Yvonne Milne Dance School, returned to Turriff Academy after a two year hiatus.

There was a difficult job for judges June Roy (Elgin), Debra Ann Waugh (Edinburgh), Lesley Boyd (Edinburgh) and Susan Robertson (Ellon) as dancers tried their best to bring home a coveted medal.

Pipes were played on the day by Fiona Caldwell from Hopeman and John Whyte from Keith.

The event also welcomed a very special guest to hand out the morning's trophies - Santa Claus!

Organiser Yvonne Milne said: "We had over 200 dancers from all over Scotland take part in our competition.

"It was lovely to see the dancers back in Turriff after missing the last two years and to hear the sound of the pipes again in the hall was great.

"We are very grateful for the support the dancing community give us for our event and it's a nice way to finish the year with Santa coming along with gifts for the primary dancers, and helping by handing out the trophies to our morning winners."

The overall section winners were as follows:

Beginners - Ella Bailey, New Deer.

Novice - Ashley Morrison, Blairgowrie.

Intermediate - Cerys Southwood, Forfar.

Premier - Lucy Milne, Ellon, and Lily Kelman, Inverness.
