Cullen and District Community Council are set to hold a by-election hustings.

Cullen and Deskford Community Council (CDCC) have arranged to bring the four candidates vying to replace previous incumbent Ron Shepherd – who recently stood down due to ill health – together on Friday, November 15 at 7pm in the village community and residential centre where members of the public will be able to meet and question them.

The four candidates standing are: Ian Aitchison (Scottish Liberal Democrats); Rob Barsby (Independent); Jock McKay (SNP); Laura Powell (Scottish Conservative and Unionist).

Each candidate will be invited to give a short presentation before the evening is turned over to a question and answer session.

There will be a chance for those who are not able to personally attend to forward questions to the candidates via the CDCC e-mail address at cullendeskfordcc@gmail.com. If time allows, a selection of those questions will be put to the candidates.

The community council were keen to stress that these hustings were purely concerning the local authority by-election and the issues surrounding it, not the general election due to be held on December 12. Moves are under way by the CDCC to arrange a hustings for the latter poll.

Polling stations will open at 7am on Thursday, November 21 and close at 10pm that evening.
