Many groups and organisations have had to come up with new ways to stay engaged during the current lock down, with many utilising technology to keep in touch.

Amongst the local groups doing exactly that is the Northern Riders Reenactment Group, based at Tranquility Wild West Town who held their AGM online for the first time in their history due to Covid19 restrictions.

As group member and Tranquility owner Alistair Baranowski explained: "A few members were unable to take part because they were unfamiliar with the internet, but the main points from the AGM was the appointment of one of our youngest members, Michael Bingham to the position of chairman in addition to his existing position as secretary.

"Danny McCabe has been appointed health and safety officer and I continue as treasurer.

"I chaired the meeting and said this of our previous chairman Lewis Shewan.

"I want to thank Lewis Shewan aka Dakota for all his services to the group over these many years, whether as chairman or in other capacities.

"In a message I read this morning from Lewis and also in video conversation I had with him a short time ago he assures me that he intends to rejoin the group.

"I know the last few years have seen Dakota plagued with one kind of ill health or another and that he has been told to self-isolate until June at the earliest.

"I'm sure you all would want me to wish Lewis much improved health and look forward to seeing him back at Tranquility before too long.

"Lewis is one of those larger than life characters with a personality to match that you sometimes read about but are rarely fortunate enough to meet in the flesh and better still be able to call a friend.

"He will come bouncing back before too long, full of zest and a joke for every occasion.

"Get well soon pardner!."

The group and the township itself are set to appear on BBC Scotland this Thursday at 11pm when the town and it's members share their Thanksgiving Weekend with a trio of comedians!
