TPOs have been revoked in Dufftown and Deskford after a petition was lodged citing concerns about tree maintenance and the impact of crows in the area.

The order is made by local planning authorities to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands.

The decision to revoke the order at Cowie Avenue and Fife Street in Dufftown was taken by the Planning and Regulatory Services Committee yesterday (December 19).

One objection was made when the public was consulted on the proposal.

The committee also revoked a TPO on a group trees at Deskford near Buckie with no objections or comments made when the proposal was put to the land owner and advertised to the public between September 11 and October 20.

Councillor David Gordon (Conservatives, Speyside Glenlivet), committee chair, said: "It should be said that the revocation of these orders does not mean that the trees will be immediately felled.

"Should the landowner, or another party with the landowner’s consent, wish to remove any trees, or carry out tree works, they would be obliged to undertake appropriate ecological surveys prior to this being carried out."
