Coronavirus update: Test positivity climbs above 10 per cent in Scotland

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 3613 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.6 per cent of those tested overall.

This compares to 3367in the previous 24 hours and 2538 the day before.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1106 (1023 yesterday) cases and NHS Lothian 630 (577) cases.

NHS Grampian saw 166 (137) cases while NHS Highland recorded 178 (167) cases.

In the seven days to August 16 there were 331 new cases in Aberdeenshire (126.9 per 100,000), 306 in Aberdeen City (133.6 per 100,000) and in Moray 88 (91.9per 100,000).

Nine new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases which have been focused on Fraserburgh have started to finally show a decline, with Westhill/Elrick the latest to see a considerable jump in positive test results.

To date in Scotland more than 4,071,537 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,526,754 people have received their second dose.
