Coronavirus update: Spread of cases continues across the north-east with jumps in Turriff, Aboyne and Logie Durno areas

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 6170 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 11.5 per cent of those tested overall

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1741 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 1151 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 371 cases while NHS Highland recorded 280 cases.

In the seven days to August 29 there were 1077 new cases in Aberdeenshire (413.0 per 100,000) 913 in Aberdeen City (398.6 per 100,000) and in Moray 184 (192.1 per 100,000).

Nine new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases are now endemic across the whole of the north-east with Aboyne, Turriff and the Logie Durno/Chapel of Garioch recording the largest physical numbers of positive tests, while Newtonhill now shows the highest number of cases per percentage of population.

To date in Scotland more than 4,108,804 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,691,066 people have received their second dose.
